Marissa Bridges

From a young age, Marissa knew fashion was her calling. She was taught to sew by her grandma, which grew into an inspiration book with sketches and visions for the future. Years later she realized she could make her passion into a career and enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Stout where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel Design and Development.

While attending school, she landed a job as a Production Specialist with an activewear company which gave her hands on experience in the industry at an early age. Marissa also had the opportunity to study in London for a semester, where she focused on fashion design and fashion photography. This journey taught her about innovative fashions, different cultures and a new appreciation for independence. The following summer she got an internship at Target Corporation, where she gained knowledge about working within a corporation. While there, she received an award for her internship project; a huge honor.

During her last semester in college she took a studio course which was the capstone of the Apparel Design program and spent countless long nights developing a collection that fully represented her as a designer. At the end of the semester she debuted her collection and was awarded Best Career Wear and Best in Show. This confirmed that Marissa was exactly where she needed to be and was well on her way to being a professional designer. Marissa still is employed with the activewear company, now with the title of Head Designer. She also works with the upcycling brand CounterCouture in addition to her full-time gig and is always keeping her eye out for a new challenge.
