Kristy Janigo

Kristy has had a designer’s instinct since she was a little girl. Kristy’s interest in fashion increased as she grew older. Although having little experience sewing, she started making her own clothing and rocked unique looks in high school.

Kristy graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design in 2005 and has just started a graduate master’s at the University of Minnesota. She has been a part of the fashion industry for more than 5 years as a technical designer in junior ready to wear, junior swimwear, and children’s clothing. Therefore, she understands the importance of great fit and sound construction for every garment in her own line.

As designer of Je Ne Regrette Rien >>, (French for “I Do Not Regret Anything”), Kristy enjoys using recycled fabrics and materials. “I strive to be eco friendly throughout the design process and find ways to use almost all the fabric I acquired for a project. I am often inspired by the fabric itself, and I drape many of my designs, maintaining the autonomy and character of the fabric.” Kristy’s design aesthetic celebrates the unique personalities of women and focuses on one or a combination of three overlying themes: girly (ruffles, frills, bows, ribbons, pastels), punk rock (metal detailing, exposed zippers, 80s neon colors, metallics), and classic (simple lines, sophisticated styling – think Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast At Tiffany’s).

Je Ne Regrette Rien can be found at Design Collective in Minneapolis, MN.
